I have a new website...

Soon I will be changing this blog and taking the memory boards down and just using this as a forum to blog and feature other blogs.  My boards, crochet, and other items can be found at http://www.memoryboardsnmoore.webs.com/.

Please email me at jenonnievon@att.net if you want to order a board or crochet and be patient with me while I update the website and this blog.  It's a work in progress.

I am looking forward to gaining new customers and also getting ready for my first craft fair in a few weeks.

Friday 10/9/09

It's a dreary day, turning colder I hear as the day goes on.  A perfect day to work on new boards and crochet.  I am going to work, work, work as much as I can today, while chasing "D", and hope to work on the blog a bit as well.

My first order!!!

Thanks to a mom from my awesome mom's group, I've gotten my first order.  Or first two orders that is! i hope she'll enjoy the boards, and that I will be able to say in a few weeks time that I've gotten many more orders!  And happy customers!

Progress takes a little bit of work!  Or a lot of work, but it's SO worth it.  I love making something that people like, and want.  I like the interaction I've gotten with different crafy women, across the country (one even in Australia) through the mom blogging networks.  I love seeing that people are still making things with their hands and that arts like crochet and crafting will not go away.  In fact, it seems like the recession has helped handmade arts and crafts.

When I made the first board for my son's room after he was born, I never imagined that a year and a half later I'd have my boards on a website and about 20 or so stacked up on my kitchen table and in a closet.  I never thought I'd be entering in a craft show at all.  It's so exciting and FUN!!!  It's also something my husband is enjoying helping me with.  Since he's home because he's injured and waiting for surgery to be scheduled, the boards and projects have given him something to do, also, because he can't do much of anything until his surgery and therapy are completed.

I like working at something while I am able to also run around after my son, watch tv, do houshold work, or whatever I need to do.  I like that my husband is involved, even my son.  His job mainly seems to be that he gets to unroll all of the ribbon spools, or make me get up to chase him, but that's why I wanted something like this to do as a job (outside of the realm of mommy).  It's the best of both worlds...even if it did take me about two years, and a very NEGATIVE experience trying to re-enter the workforce after three years.

As far as what's new, I have gotten a Halloween board done, and made the two for my friend from the mom's group.  I am going to spend the better part of the day on the boards and really hope to get a pillow or two done today.  I've not been feeling particularly well, it comes and goes, but everyone is sick right now, so, I guess it's just going around.  (And back around in this house it seems).

I will post pictures of my new boards and whatever else I manage to finish throughout the day.

for boy's rooms

I've gotten two new boards added that would be perfect for any baby or toddler boy's room.  Pillows to match should be added soon.  I am going to be substituting at my church's school tomorrow and for a few days so it may be a work in progress this week, but my goal is to add at least two or three new items a day.  I have a LOT of work to do to get ready for my first craft fair which will be the first weekend of November.  I am also gearing up for orders and looking forward to making a lot of boards, etc. for the upcoming Christmas/holiday season.

For guys too...

Recently added football and golfing boards are perfect for any guy's office, bedroom, or "man cave."  With an assortment of fabrics, ribbon, and embelishments to choose from, the possiblities are endless-for everyone and every occassion!

Craft shows

I am going to be signing up for a craft show in November.  Actually, it will be two shows, but they are both the same show, just different weekends.  This will be my first time at a craft show and I am SO EXCITED!!!

The first show will be the first weekend in November at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds.  The second will be the weekend after Thanksgiving at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds.  I know I have a lot of work to do to get organized, order forms, swatches, pictures printed, labels, etc. but again, I am just so excited!  I guess I've found my niche and I am hoping that I will be busy for a long time with all of this.

I don't really want to become too large, and I plan on keeping this running from my home.   I'd really like to expand only to a few stores and stay busy with regional craft shows.  I am going to try to get into Affair of the Heart in February, and hopefully I'll be able to do that each time it's in the area.

Pillows...

I am thinking about adding pillows to match some of the memory boards.  So far a few of my friends think this is a good idea.  I am going to work on some more boards today and also get some fabric and ribbon samples posted as well.

Thank you to everyone who has responded and for the new followers.  Tell your friends, I need all of the help I can get promoting my blog, boards, and other items.

I also have some crochet projects to work on as well that I need to get out this week.  I guess you could call the projects orders.  I really did not think that this would take off or be received as well as it has been.

Memory Boards N Moore

After a fun few days of focusing on my memory boards, I am about to take a few to be displayed in some shops!  It's great having friends that work in salons!  I've gotten some really cute boards done with more to come.  I am also going to be posting a fabric selection, and ribbon selection section as well.  It's a work in progress and I am so happy to have followers and so many people interested in the boards.

Memory boards are a great way to display anything without having a lot of clutter or having to hang a ton of pictures on your wall...you can display them all in one spot and change them as you need!  The boards are also great for kitchens, offices, bedrooms, or anywhere you need!

:o)  Have a great Saturday.
